Saith o'r Gorau! - Magnificent Seven!

Ar brynhawn gythreilig o oer, dyma fentro i Gae Clyd i weld Blaenau yn rhoi chwip din go iawn i Bodedern o 7 gol i 0!
Roedd y goliau i gyd yn rhai da a tim y Blaenau yn chwarae pel droed o safon uchel iawn.
O be welais i p'nawn yma, heb os ac onid bai, bydd y Blaenau yn enill dyrchafiad o Gynghrair Gwynedd fel Pencampwyr diwedd y tymor hwn.
Da Iawn hogia!!

On a very chilly afternoon, I went to Cae Clyd to see Blaenau hit 7 goals pass Bodedern who had no reply and were totally outclassed by a superb performance by the home team.
On this display, I have absolutely no doubt that Blaenau will be promoted from the Gwynedd League as Champions at the end of this season.
Well done lads!!

Stwlan ar y Sadwrn - Saturday walk to Stwlan

A hithau'n fore digon fres, dyma penderfynu lapio'n gynnes a cerdded i fynnu at argae Stwlan yng nghysgod y Moelwyn bore 'ma.
Dwi'n ol adre am 'chydig cyn picad draw i Gae Clyd p'nawn 'ma i weld Blaenau yn erbyn Bodedern, gan obeithio gall yr hogia ymestyn eu mantais ar frig Cynghrair Pel-Droed Gwynedd.

With it being a fresh morning on the last day of January, I decided to wrap up warm and head off for a walk up to the Stwlan Dam in the shadow of the Moelwyn.
I'm back home for a while now, before heading out again theis afternoon to Cae Clyd to see whether Blaenau can beat Bodedern and extend their lead at the top of the Gwynedd Football League.

Be mae First Hydro yn neud? - What are First Hydro doing?

Cyfeirio ydw i at y ffaith eu bod yn dymchwel yr hen ganolfan ymwelwyr ger y llyn yn Nhanygrisiau.
Ar un adeg roedd y ganolfan hon yn fwrlwm a gwn fod Mari Rees, gwraig fusnes leol a diddordeb mawr mewn datblygu'r adeilad i fod yn bunkhouse ac yn le chwarae dan do i blant tebyg i'r Hwylfan, dim ond i First Hydro newid ei meddyliau ar y funud olaf gan eu bod nhw yn dweud fod yr adeilad yn beryglus.
Rwan o'n adnabyddiaeth i o'r adeilad dwi ynn sicr y byddai Mari wedi gallu cael adeiladwr lleol i mewn i ddatrys unrhyw broblemau mawr.
Mae'n drueni gweld y lle yn cael ei ddymchwel o gofio fod Mari dal i redeg y caffi ger y llyn, chwbwl fydd wrth ei ochr mewn chydig fydd gofod yn hytrach na adeilad yn byrlumu gyda gweithgareddau petai First Hydro wedi caniatau i Mari wireddu ei gweledigaeth.
Mae'r cwmni hefyd yn y gorffenol wedi bod digon llugoer i gynlluniau Antur Stiniog. Gwn yn iawn eu bod yn gyflogwr da a phwysig yn yr ardal ond o bosib mi allent fod yn gwneud llawer mwy ar lefel cymunedol fel mae'r engreifftiau uchod yn cyfeirio atynt.

I'm referring to the fact that they are now demolishing the former visitors, reception centre near the lake in Tanygrisiau.
At one time, this used to be a hive of activity and I know that local businesswoman, Mari Rees had a firm interest in developing the building into a bunkhouse and children's fun centre only for First Hydro to pull the rug from under her feet at the last minute by saying that the building was dangerous.
Now from my knowing of Mari, I am sure that she would have found a local builder who would have been able to cure any structural faults that may have been present on the building.
It's very sad to see the building being demolished as it is worth remembering that Mari still runs the Lakeside cafe next door, all she will have next to the cafe soon will be an empty space unlike the building that could have benn there thriving with activity if her vision would have been allowed to become reality by First Hydro.
The company have also in the past been lukewarm in their support of the plans that have been drawn up by Antur Stiniog.
Yes I know they are an important employer locally and for that I am grateful, however as both the examples above show, maybe they could and should be doing more on a community level.

Diweddara' 509 Latest - 1 i lawr 4 i fynd / 1 down 4 to go!

Well here I am, four weeks into my campaign to try to lose 5 stonnes in weight and I am feeling amazing!
As the scales showed this morning, I have succeeded in losing 18lbs since I began the campaign on January 1st (I weighed in at 20stn 10lbs then), which by my calculation is equal to 1 stonne and 4lbs.
I am walking up to 2.5 miles nearly every night as well as walking a few more miles at weekends and I’ve completely stopped eating all the junk food that I used to and thankfully, so far I’ve not had any cravings.
On the financial side, my aim is to raise £5,000 towards the Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice, and I am pleased and extremly grateful to report that so far I have raised nearly £1,200 on paper and online.
So on I go now until the end of February when I next weigh myself (I wonder if the second stonne will have gone by then?).
Remember, if you’d like to sponsor me, you can do so online by visiting the 509 website which is located at the very top of the links section on the righthand side of this blog or go to www.justgiving.com/gwilymeurosroberts

If you have already sponsored me or supported me in any other way, I give you my heartfelt thanks.

Dyfodol Canolfan Croeso Blaenau Ffestiniog Tourism Information Centre's future

Prynhawn 'ma cefais wybod y bydd Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri yn trafod
argymhelliad i gau Ganolfan Croeso, Blaenau Ffestiniog pan fyddent yn
cyfarfod ar Chwefror 11eg.
Ar yr edrychiad gyntaf, mae hyn yn edrych fel ergyd arall i'r dref - ond nid fel 'na dwi'n ei gweld hi.
Mae rhywun yn gallu cydymdeimlo rhywfaint gyda safbwynt y Parc Cenedlaethol (sydd yn ol pob son yn gwynebu toriad sylweddol i'w gyllideb gan y Cynulliad), fodd bynnag,
mae'n hanfodol bwysig nad ydym yn colli'r ddarpariaeth yma yn gyfan gwbwl
gan ei fod hi'n holl bwysig bod rhywle yn y dref ar gyfer ymwelwyr i dderbyn
croeso, cyngor a chefnogaeth pan maen't yn ymweld a'r Blaenau.
Gyda chynlluniau cyfroes iawn ar y gweill gan Antur Stiniog a Blaenau Ymlaencredaf fod modd i ni ddechrau o'r dechrau gyda darparu gwybodaeth ar gyfer ymwelwyr i'n tref ac i'r Fro arbennig hon gan i bob perwyl mae dyddiau yr hen fath o Ganolfan Croeso yn brysur dod i ben gyda dyfodiad y We Byd Eang.
I'r perwyl hynny, dwi wedi galw cyfarfod o'r holl asianataethau perthnasol a chynrychiolwyr etholedig yr ardal er mwyn trafod sut da ni am symud ymlaen o rwan.
Credaf yn bersonol fod yma gyfle i wella pethau drwy gyfuno gwhanol elfennau
o waith mudiadau eraill yn lleol yn ogystal a darparu gwasanaeth croeso o
dan yr un to. Amser a ddengus ond be sydd yn bwysig yw ein bod ni yn ymateb i'r her hon yn sydyn a dyma be sydd wedi digwydd y prynhawn yma a dyna be fydd yn digwydd o fewn y dyddiau nesa.

This afternoon I learnt that the Snowdonia National Park Authority will be discussing a recommendation to close the Tourist Information Centre in Blaenau when theymeet on February 11th.
Now on first reaction, one could feel that this is another blow to the town - however tha's not how I see it.
Whilst one can sympathise somewhat with the National Park's situation (by all accounts their financial settlement for the coming year from the National Assembly is less than favourable), I think it'simperative that we do not totally loose this provision as it is vital giventhe exciting proposals for the town by Antur 'Stiniog and Blaenau Ymlaen that visitors have somehwere to go for awelcome, information and guidence when visiting Blaenau.
For these reasons, I have already called a meeting of the relevant agencies, organisations and local elected representatives in order to discuss the way forward fromwhere we are now.
I personally feel that we should look at this as an opportunity to improve and build on our future proposals by combining anumber of aspects from the work of various bodies in the town as well as providing a tourist information service.Time will tell, however this situation needs to be sorted quickly as the tourist season will be upon us very soon and for that reason I acted swiftly this afternoon, we will continue to work together and I hope that within a matter of days rather than weeks we will have a clearer view of the way forward.

Gemau Llundain yn drychineb economaidd - London Olympics an economic disaster

Pedwar cwmni yn unig o Gymru sydd wedi ennill cytundebau yn sgil Gemau Olympaidd Llundain 2012.
Mae gwerth y cytundebau yn llai na £100,000.
Dyna ddatgelwyd gan y Gweinidog dros y Gemau, Tessa Jowell AS, wrth roi tystiolaeth gerbron y Pwyllgor Dethol ar Faterion Cymreig.
"Ein teimlad ni yw bod 'na lawer mwy y gallai busnesau yng Nghymru fod yn ei wneud i fanteisio ar fuddsoddiad posib."
Wrth ymateb dywedodd aelod seneddol Plaid Cymru dros Gaernarfon Hywel Williams mai'r "realiti yw mai Gemau i Lundain yw'r rhain ar gefn gweddill y Deyrnas Unedig."
Wrth ateb cwestiwn arall gan aelod Caernarfon fe ddywedodd y gweinidog bod Cymru'n debyg o golli £65miliwn o arian loteri, a chydnabu hefyd y gallai'r ffigwr fod yn fwy o ystyried arian cyfatebol.
Yr wythnos ddiwethaf fe ddywedodd y Gweinidog Treftadaeth Alun Ffred Jones AC y gallai Cymru golli £100m o arian Loteri yn sgil y Gemau.
Heb os ac onid bai a ninnau mewn dirwasgiad drwg sydd yn debygol o barau oleiaf 4 i 5mlynedd nes y gwelwn unrhyw adferiad economaidd gallai ddim ond a chefnogi sylwadau y ddau gyfaill o Blaid Cymru.
Mae mudiadau cymunedol, busnesau a'r sectro gyhoeddus yma yng Nghymru a gweddill y DU i ddeud y gwir yn mynd i dalu'n ddrud am y jambori yn Llundain fydd, o gofio cyflwr economaidd ein gwlad a'r twf mewn tlodi sydd yn sicir o ddod yn ei sgil yn ymddangos fel joc sal ar y diawl yn ystod Haf 2012 a gallaf eich sicrhau fyddai i fel llawer i un arall ddim yn chwerthin!

Just four Welsh firms have won direct contracts for the London Olympics with a total value below £100,000, Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell has revealed.
Ms Jowell said there was "an enormous amount more" Welsh firms could do.
But she also confirmed that Wales was set to lose £65m in lottery cash due to the cost of staging the games in 2012.
The assembly's heritage minister, Alun Ffred Jones, described the business figures as "disappointing" and said there is "room for improvement".
The issue of lottery funding was flagged up by the Welsh Assembly Government last week, when Alun Ffred Jones said he believed the Olympics could cost Wales £100m in lost Lottery cash and consequential benefits.
Speaking on Thursday, he added: "I would suggest that it is a very high price to pay for voluntary bodies who have now seen the lottery funds dry up."
I totally agree and support Alun Ffred's views on this matter which is nothing short of scandalous.
Given that we are now at the beginning of a recession that will last for at least 4 to 5 years before we will even see any sign of recovery, the 2012 jamboree in London will indeed be see by many as a sick joke which has costed millions of pounds that could and should be spent to eleviate the economic hardship and increased poverty that undoubtedly many families here in Wales and across the UK will have to endure.
I for one won't be laughing at this joke as I doubt neither will the many people working in the voluntary sector who's grants have dried up, the public sectror who are unable to sustain services or the private sector companies who are unable to retain their workers.

Goodnight Reg

I was sad to learn that the voice of boxing on ITV during the 70's 80's and 90's, Reg Guttridge has passed away at the age of 84.
I can remember as a child watching the greats, Ali, Holmes, Spinks, Hagler,Leonard,Duran,Tyson,Benn and Eubank with my late father on ITV,with Reg calling the shots.
Thanks for the memories and for educating and informing me about boxing and its history as well as commentating on some of the most memorable fights of the last 30 years.

Glanhau'r Afon Bowydd - Cleaning the Bowydd River

Newydd ddod adra o glanhau rhywfaint ar yr Afon Bowydd gyda tua 10 o wirfoddolwyr ymroddgar a dygun iawn y bore ma.
Cawsom hwyl arni ac mi ddaru ni dynnu bopeth o popty, beics, lloerenau digidol, cyffiriau prisciptiwn a hen ddilladau o'r afon.
Diolch i Gwydion a Sara o'r Fenter Dref Werdd am drefnu.
Efallai fod hi'n amser i rhai pobol y dref hon, barchu'r afon a'r amgylchedd o'u cwmpas? In sicr o'r dystiolaeth welais i y bore 'ma does gan rhai pobol ddim parch iddi.

Just returned from cleaning parts of the River Bowydd with a group of ten other hearty and committed volunteers this morning.
I feel that in the two hours we were at it, we did a very good job and we managed to pull everything from a cooker, bicycles, clothing, prescreption drugs and satallite dishes out of the river this morning.
I seriously wonder whether some people in this town have little or no respect for the river and its surrounding environment? From this morning's evidence they need to take their rubbish home or dispose of it properly, rather than dumping it in the river.
Thanks to Gwydion and Sara from the Green Town Initiative for organising the clean-up.

A free lunch will be provided to all who take part after we finish - I look forward to seeing you there.
P.S. Sunday is also Saint Dwynwen's Day so don't forget to get a card for your loved one as well as giving them a kiss before you leave the house!

Lady Ga Ga - "Just Dance" ....it's driving me Ga Ga!

Will we hear a better song this year? (OK.. I know that's a bit OTT) But I just love this tune...as part of my 509 campaign, I've been walking a lot and this is on my i-Pod and it certainly gets me moving quicker!
Lady Ga Ga will defiantly be one of this years top music acts that's for sure.

Diweddaraf am Bryn Llywelyn Latest Update

Fydd dyfodol y cartref ddim yn cael ei drafod gan Fwrdd y Cyngor pan fydd yn cwrdd Dydd Mawrth fel oedd y bwriad. Yn hytrach bydd y mater yn mynd yn ol ger bron y Pwyllgor Craffu Gofal ar ddechrau Chwefror cyn dod ger bron y Bwrdd a'r Cyngor llawn yn hwyrach yn y mis fel dwi ar ddeallt.
Y newyddion drwg ydi, nad yw'n ymddangos nad yw barn y swyddogion wedi newid ac maen't yn dal i argymhell cau y cartref.

The future of the home will not be discussed at the Council Board next Tuesday as originally planned. The matter has now been deferred back to the Care Scrutiny Committee that meets at the beginning of February, following which the home's future will be discussed by the Council Board and full Council in the same month.
The bad news is that officer's are still recommending that the home should be closed.

Dechrau Cyfnod Newydd? - Dawning of a New Era?

Dwi'n mawr obeithio. Yn sicr mae gan ddyn llawer mwy o ffudd a hyder ar gychwyn cyfnod yr Arlywydd Obama na oedd ar ddechrau cyfnod ei ragfleunydd.

I certainly hope so. For certain, a man can have more confidence and faith at the beginning of President Obama's presidency than one had at the beginning of his predecessor's disaterous time in office.

Parchwch barn ein henoed - Respect our elderly people's views

Mewn wythnos mi fydd Bwrdd, Cyngor Gwynedd yn trafod dyfodol cartref Bryn Llywelyn yn Llan Ffestiniog gyda argymhelliad gan Adran Ddarparu'r Cyngor y dylid cau y cartref a hynny'n gwbwl groes y farn y preswylwyr a'r staff a mwyafrif llethol y gymuned yma yn ardal Stiniog.
Mae'r diffyg parch sydd wedi ei ddangos gan swyddogion y Cyngor tuag at farn yr henoed fydd yn cael eu effeithio'n uniongyrchol gan y penderfyniad yma wedi fy ysgogi i yrru llythyr at Gomisiynydd Pobol Hun Cymru yn gofyn iddi edrych ar y modd cynhaliwyd yr ymgynghoriad ar ddyfodol y cartref ac sut nad oes unrhyw ystyriaeth wedi cael ei roi i ddymuniad yr henoed. Mae'r llythyr dwi wedi ei yrru at y Comisiynydd, Ms Ruth Marks, i'w weld yn llawn isod.

Within a week, Gwynedd Council's Board will be discussing the future of Bryn Llywelyn Care Home near Llan Ffestiniog, with a reccemendation by the Council's Provider Unit that the home should be closed. A decision which is totally against the wishes of the home's elderly residents and staff and the majority of the wider community here in the Ffestiniog Area.
The lack of respect shown by Council Officers to the views of the elderly residents that will be directly effected by their reccomendations has prompted me to write to The Older Peoples Commissioner for Wales to ask her to look at the way the consultation process on the home's future was conducted and how little or no consideration has been given to the views and wishes of the elederly. A copy of the letter can be viewed below.

Dear Ms Marks,

Re: Proposed Closure of Bryn Llywelyn Care Home by Gwynedd Council

As the Older People's Commissioner for Wales I write to you to draw your attention to Gwynedd Council's proposals to close Bryn Llywelyn Care Home at Llan Ffestiniog despite receiving only 4 out of 40 responses during a public consultation period that supported such action!
Bryn Llywelyn is currently the home of 13 elderly residents who receive a high standard of care from a dedicated team of staff. Gwynedd Council argue that the running costs of the home make it unsustainable. The three local County Councillor's (myself included) in consultation with the staff and their Union Representatives have shown that the home can become more cost effective as additional bed spaces can be utalised at the home – a suggestion that Gwynedd has flatly refused.
The residents, their families and staff of Bryn Llywelyn took part in the consultation process and they all were in favour of keeping the home open and developing it for the future. Now with only 4 responses that have supported the closure option, Gwynedd Council officers are trying to ignore the viewpoint of those who will be most affected by their proposal, which to me is nothing short of scandalous and a breech of the elderly residents human rights – bearing in mind, Bryn Llywelyn is now their home.
I do not need to tell you that the last few months have been a tremendous strain on the residents and staff of Bryn Llywelyn. And although Gwynedd Council's Care Scrutiny Committee have refused to support the officer's proposal's it now looks like they may try to push the closure plan through the Council Board at the end of January and the full Council in late February.
Due to the fact that the views of the elderly residents, their families and their carers have been given little consideration and absolutly no respect in this instance, I would ask you investigate how Gwynedd Council have handled this matter as well as asking for the opinions of the elderly residents to be given far more consideration, so that Bryn Llywelyn stays open and is developed to meet its full potential so that it can continue to serve the Ffestiniog area's older people for many years to come.
I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,

Councillor Gwilym Euros Roberts

Cinema Gems

Just back this evening from Cardiff after spending 3 nights down there on a trip combining business and pleasure.
During the weekend, Catrin and I had the opportunity to go to the cinema not once but twice to see The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionaire, which I had read good reviews for both in last weeks press.
Both films did not not disappoint; Mikey Rourkes performance in The Wrestler will, I am sure earn him more accolades to add to his recent Golden Globe. The camera work and lack of glitz make this a uniquely memorable film and it had Mrs Euros shedding a tear or two towards the end.
Slumdog Millionaire, again was very enjoyable, with some great performances, camera work and brilliant soundtrack, which added to the whole experience.
If you're looking for something to do over the next week or two, go and see one or both of these films as they are, in my opinion well worth seeing.

Diwrnod prysur a diwrnod trist

Cyfarfod yng Nghaernarfon, peth gynta ac yna yn ol i Blaenau ar gyfer gwasnaeth angladd Mrs Gwenda Williams.
Roedd Gwenda yn ddynes addfwyn ac annwyl iawn, wastad yn barod i sgwrsio ac yn gymhwynaswraig arbennig. Dwi'n cofio fel plentyn, hi a'i gwr, Elwyn yn dod a llefrith i ty ni ac yn hwyrach pan es i Ysgol y Moelwyn, bu mi yn yr un dosbarth a'u merch hyna', Cerys, sydd yn hogan annwyl yn yr un modd a'i rhieni.
I Elwyn, Cerys a Gwenan estynaf fy nghydymdeimlad dwysaf ac roedd gwasanaeth prynhawn 'ma yng Nghapel Bowydd yn deyrnged addas iawn i Gwenda.

Yn dilyn yr angladd dyma mynd i ymweld a thair safle ble mae problemau parcio mawr gyda swyddog o Gyngor Gwynedd. Mae'r problemau yn ardal Bethania, Stryd Newborough ac yng nghyffinau Ysgol y Moelwyn pan mae disgyblion yn gadael neu yn cyrraed yn fater o bryder i mi a'r trigolion, a dwi'n gobeithio y gallwbn wneud rhywbeth i wella'r sefyllfa yn y tri lleoliad yn ystod y misoedd nesa'.

Newyddion 509 Update

'Chydig dros wythnos ers i mi ddechrau a'r ymgyrch i golli 5 ston er mwyn codi £5,000 tuag at Hospis Plant Ty Gobaith, mae'r addewidion am nawdd a pheth nawdd yn dod i mewn yn dda iawn. Hyd yma ar bapur mae gennyf addewidion o tua £250 a gyda swm tebyg wedi ei gyfarnnu'n barod ar lein mae £500 ers i mi ddechrau casglu dydd Mercher yn dda iawn - felly diolch o galon i bawb sydd wedi fy nghefnogi yn barod.
O safbwynt y deiet, dwi'n bwyta'n iach ac yn cerdded tipyn pob dydd. Mae bwyta rhwng prydiau wedi ei gyfyngu i afal, neu grawnwin ond hydnoed mae'r adegau hynny yn brin iawn pan dwi'n teimlo fy mod i iso bwyd ac weithiau mae gwydriad o ddwr yn gwnued y tro.
Dwi'n teimlo yn dda iawn er i fod yn deg ac yn realistig, dyddiau cynnar iawn i'w rhain.
Dwi'n falch o ddeud pan roedd y teulu yn bwyta bara garlleg a chaws wedi doddi arno yn gynharach, chefais ddim pwl o isio peth....mae siocled, creision a bara mewn gormodedd i weld fel petaent ddim ond yn atgof ar hyn o bryd.
Cawn weld os bydd pethau'n parhau i fod yn rhwydd wythnos nesa'?, gan fy mod yn ol yn y gwaith ac mae dydd Llun yn un o'r diwrnodau gwallgo o brysur sydd yn dod i'm rhan o bryd i'w gilydd felly fydd rhaid gwnued yn sicr nad nid bar mawr o siocled (neu dri)fydd y cinio wrth i mi wibio rhwng cyfarfodydd!

Os hoffech fy noddi, cofiwch fe allwch chi wneud hynny drwy glicio ar 509 o dan y pennawd dolenni isod.

A little over a week since I started my campaign to lose 5 stonnes in weight in order to raise £5,000 for Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice, things are going well, with pledges for sponsorship and money already donated hitting the £500 mark within 3 days - so a big thank you to everyone who's already supported me.
In terms of the diet, I am eating healthily and taking walks on a daily basis. Snacking between meal's is limited to an apple or a few grapes, and even then, I sometimes have a glass of water instead, which is plenty and keeps me going.
I am feeling very good, however in fairness, I do realise that these are early days and in time it will, I have no doubt get harder for me.
This evening, I was not tempted to eat the garlic bread with cheese that the family ate with our meal, so I am able to stay focused and diciplined. Monday is a very hectic day and my first back after the holidays...so I hope that I can remain as focused and disciplined and refrain from returning to some seriously bad habbits of old and grab a bar (or three) of chocolate for lunch on the move!

GAZA - U.K., U.S. and U.N. must act NOW!

The conflict between Israel and Hamas is continuing into its third week, with Israel dropping leaflets on the Gaza Strip warning residents it will escalate its military action.

Gordon Brown and US President Elect Barack Obama as well as the U.N. Security Council must send the strongest message possible to Israel and tell them to STOP blitzing the Gaza Strip immediately or face sanctions from the UN.
They must also set up talks between both sides as soon as possible to stope further bloodshed.
This is one situation that the "Middle East Envoy" Tony Blair can't even put a positive spin on as he so often did during dark days under his premiership.
DIALOUGE is the only way to resolve this complex and worrying situation and I sincerely hope that within a week of his inauguration, Barrack Obama will attempt to get everyone around the table in Washington or else 2009 could be one of the bloodiest years for a long time in the Middle East.

Marwolaeth T.Llew Jones

Bu farw'r awdur plant poblogaidd T Llew Jones.

Roedd yn 93 oed.

Bu ni i gyd bron, dwi'n siwr, ddarllen peth o'i waith tra yn yr ysgol, yn wir, mae fy mhlant fy hun wedi darllen Tan ar y Comin yn ystod y dwy flynedd diwethaf, ar ddau ohonynt wedi ei fwynhau yn fawr.

Bydd o'n byw am byth, drwy ei gyfrolau ac yng nghof y genedl gafodd y fraint o dyfu fynnu wrth eu darllen.

Heddwch i'w lwch.

Cyngor Gwynedd ar ei orau - Gwynedd Council at its best

A ninnau wedi cael ein taro gyda haenen fechan o eira a hwnnw yn y man yn troi'n rhew ym yn ardal Stiniog, mi allai'r ffyrdd a'r palmentydd wedi bod mewn cyflwr eitha peryglus.
Dwi'n ymwybodol iawn fod rhai problemau wedi bod yn fuan iawn y bore ddoe fel oedd hi'n gwawrio ond diolch i'r staff dyfal a dygun yn Adran Priffyrdd Cyngor Gwynedd, mae pob ymdrech wedi cael ei wneud i greanu y ffyrdd a'r palmentydd o gwmpas y dref.
P'nawn ma ddiwetha, derbyniais galwad ffon am 3pm i ddweud fod y palmant o gwmpas ardal Pembroke House yn y Stryd Fawr yn beryglus. Wedi i mi ffonio'r Cyngor, roedd yr ardal wedi cael ei greanu'n dda ac wedi ei wneud yn ddiogel cyn 5pm...gwasanaeth cyhoeddus are ei orau ac gwn fy mod yn barod i feirniadu'r Cyngor pan fo angen ond yn yr achos yma does gennyf dim ond canmoliaeth a diolch i'r staff arbennig ac ymroddgar yn yr Adran Briffyrdd.

With the area having been hit with a small dusting of snow and a very cold snap which turned the snow into ice, the roads and pavements in the Blaenau area could have become extremly dangerous.
Yes I am aware of some problems at dawn yesterday morning, however, thanks to the efforts of the committed and hard working staff within the Highways Department of Gwynedd Council every effort has been made to ensure that the roads and pavements around the town have been gritted properly.
Just this afternoon at about 3pm, I received a call regarding the trecherous condition of the pavement in the Pembroke House area of the High Street. After I contacted the Council, the area had been gritted properly and made safer by 5pm...public service at its very best and as someone who is more thatn ready to criticise the Council when it doesn't do things well but on this occasion I have nothing but sincere thanks and praise to the hard working staff within the Highways Department for their hard work and swift response to a dangerous situation.

Diwrnod da i gerdded (a llithro!) - Great day for walking (and slipping!)

Gyda'r tywydd yn sych ond yn oer, dyma fentro'r p'nawn ma am dro i chwarel Rhosydd, uwch ben llun Cwmorthin efo Catrin a Morgan a'n ffrindiau ni, Martin, Alwen a'u plant Aled a Non.
Roedd dwr o'r nentydd wedi rhewi ar y ffordd o amgylch Cwmorthin a pwy meddai chi syrthio yn clomp ar ei ben ol!? Ia dyna chi..fi! Ac mae Aled yn dal i chwerthin rwan amdano dybiwn i!
Prynhawn bendigedig a'r ymarfer yn gymorth mawr tuag at Ymgyrch 509,ac nid dyma fydd y tro ola' i mi weld Rhosydd a'r Moelwyni os dwi am gyrraedd fy nod gyda colli pwysa' eleni.

With the weather being bright but cold, off I went along with Catrin and Morgan and friends of ours, Martin, Alwen and their children Aled and Non for a hike up to Rhosydd Quarry above Cwmorthin Lake.
The water from the streams that had trickled onto the road around Cwmorthin was frozen solid, and guess who went and slipped slap bang on his bottom!?...Yes that's right me! And Aled is still laughing now I reccon!
A lovely afternoon and the excercise was a big help with the 509 Campaign, and I am certain that I wil see Rhosydd and the peaks of the Moelwyns a few more times this year if I'm going to reach my target weight.

With it being the time of year to make resolutions for the New Year…here I am deciding once and for all that I am going to make a serious attempt to lose some weight.
Yes I know full well that I am well over my ideal weight and I have been for several years.
I’ll be 40 years old in March 2010 so for my own health, particularly as I get older, I’m determined to make a real effort to lose at least 5 stonne by the last day of 2009.
This year, TÅ· Gobaith Children’s Hospice near Conwy is celebrating it’s 5th birthday and as a way of inspiring me to lose the 5 stonnes, I am looking for people to sponsor me to lose weight with the aim of raising £5,000 for this special charity.
Here’s launching the 509 Campaign then. As the above photo show’s at 10am this morning, I weighed 20stonnes and 10lbs. My goal now therefore is to weigh at least 15stonne and 10 lbs by New Years Eve 2009.
I’m going to be supported in my efforts by some friends who will provide me with excersise plans, diet and nutrition tips so that I do this properly and limit any risks to my health. No doubt this will be a challenge, however with the opportunity to raise funds for a charity that is close to my heart, I am determined to get rid of this big belly this year!
If you’d like to sponsor me, please get in touch.
