10 Peth dwi'n edrych ymlaen ato yn 2010 - 10 Things I'm looking forward to in 2010

1. I aros yn iach (colli rhagor o bwysau a dal i gerdded), bod yn hapus a bod yn mwy dioddefgar (efallai fydd yr ola' yn anodd ar brydiau!)
2. Fy mhenblwydd yn 40 yn Mis Mawrth.
3. Parhau i wneud fy ngorau dros pobol Blaenau Ffestiniog a'r cylch
4. Cyfarfod pobol ar hyd a lled Etholaeth Dwyfor/Meirionnydd wrth i'r ymgyrch ar gyfer Etholiadau'r Cynulliad 2011 fynd yn ei flaen.
5. Yr Etholiad Cyffrediniol...A welwn ni newid Llywodraeth yn San Steffan?
6. Cwpan y Byd pel-droed yn Ne Affrica
7. Glastonbury...Mae'r Gwyl yn 40 yn 2010 hefyd!
8. Gweld rhai o'r cynlluniau uchelgeisiol yn ardal y Blaenau yn dwyn ffrwyth
9. Mynd am wyliau i rhywle poeth os a phan fydd amser yn caniatau
10. Cwpan Ryder yn y Celtic Manor - Fel bod pawb ar hyd y Byd yn dod i glywed am Gymru, ein hanes, iaith a diwylliant unigryw.

Dwi'n mawr obeithio eich bod chithau yn edrych ymlaen at y flwyddyn newydd, yn wir, y ddegawd newydd!

1. Staying healthy (losing more weight and plenty of walking), being happy and being more tolerant (the latter maybe a tough ask at times!).
2. My 40th birthday in March.
3. To continue to do my best for the people of Blaenau Ffestiniog and the surrounding area.
4. Meeting people the length and breadth of the Dwyfor/Meirionnydd Constituancy as the campaign for the 2011 Assembly Elections will gain momentum.
5. The General Election...will we see a change of Government in Westminster?
6. The football World Cup in South Africa.
7. Glastonbury...The festival is also 40 in 2010!
8. Seeing some of the ambitous plans for Blaenau begin to bear fruit.
9. Going on holiday to somewhere hot if and when time allows.
10. The Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor Resort - So that everyone across the World will come to learn about Wales, our hitory, heritage, language and culture.

I hope that you're also looking forward to the New Year, in fact, the New Decade!

30/12/2009

A i Y 2009 - A to Z 2009

A - Anghysondeb…Yma yng Ngwynedd, Plaid Cymru sydd yn arwain yr ymgyrch i gau ysgolion cynradd gwledig tra yn Wrecsam a Sir Fynwy maent yn arwain yr ymgyrchoedd i’w cadw ar agor!
B - Blaenau Ymlaen, drwy i amryw o asiantaethau lleol gydweithio’n effeithiol gyda'i gilydd llwyddodd Blaenau Ymlaen i ddenu dros £4m o arian ar gyfer adfywio canol y dref yma yn y Blaenau. Dwi’n falch o fod wedi gallu chwarae rhan yn hyn a dwi’n edrych ymlaen at weld y weledigaeth yn dod yn reality yn ystod 2010/11.
C -Cerdded..rhywbeth dwi wedi gwneud llawer iawn ohono eleni fel rhan o’m hymgyrch welodd fi yn colli 5 stôn mewn pwysau er mwyn codi arian tuag at Dŷ Gobaith! Dwi’n bwriadu i wneud llawer mwy eto yn y flwyddyn newydd er mwyn colli rhagor o bwysau a chadw’n heini.
CH - Chwerthinllud…yr unig ffordd i ddisgrifio’r setliad ariannol rhoddwyd i Gynghorau Gogledd Orllewin Cymru (1%-1.1%) o’i gymharu gyda’r setliad derbyniodd rhai o Gynghorau'r De (Dinas Caerdydd 5%). Ac mae’r Arglwydd Dafydd Elis-Thomas yn dweud nad oes gwahaniaeth rhwng y De a’r Gogledd….Nagoes siŵr Dafydd!
D - Dyfed Edwards - “Arweinydd” Cyngor Gwynedd, enillodd wobr am “Wleidydd Lleol y Flwyddyn”. Gwyn ei fyd ddywedai i!
Dd - Ddewr… yr unig air i ddisgrifio safiad pobl ardal Bro Dysynni dros addysg eu plant yn ystod y flwyddyn sydd wedi mynd heibio. Er bod Plaid Cymru a’u cyfeillion ar Gyngor Gwynedd wedi penderfynu cau 5 o ysgolion cynradd yr ardal, fedrai fentro dweud rŵan bydd y bobol yn ymgyrchu’n galetach yn erbyn y penderfyniad yn 2010.
E - Etholiadau’r…Cynulliad 2011, bu mi yn ddigon ffodus ym Medi eleni i gael fy newis fel Darpar Ymgeisydd Llais Gwynedd ar gyfer Etholaeth Dwyfor/Meirionnydd ar gyfer Etholiadau’r Cynulliad. Mae’r ymgyrch eisoes wedi cychwyn a buan iawn fydd Mai 2011 yma.
F - Fandaleiddio…Yr achos o fandaleiddio beddi ym Mynwent Bethesda, Manod yn gynharcahrch yn y flwyddyn oedd yr achos mwyaf trist a’r achos ddaru fy ngwylltio i fwyaf yn ystod y flwyddyn aeth heibio.
Ff - Ffioedd….Ffioedd Gofal yr Henoed yma yng Ngwynedd ddaru gynyddu 100% yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf diolch i Gynghorwyr Plaid Cymru ddaru bleidleisio yn unfrydol dros y cynnydd a gwrthod fy nghyfaddawd i o godiad o 50% yn unig.
G- Gwynedd, y Cyngor dwi yn aelod ohono a dwi’n gofidio mwy rŵan na oeddwn i lynedd am y modd mae grŵp Plaid Cymru yn ceisio ei redeg....Heb os dwi’n sicr bydd pobol Gwynedd yn dangos yn union be maen nhw’n meddwl o’r ffordd drahaus a chwbl ddigyfaddawd mae’r criw o gynghorwyr yma’n bihafio pan ddaw’r Etholiadau Lleol yn 2012.
Ng - Am y ffaith fod fy NGHYDWYBOD i’n glir pan ddaru mi wrthod cynnig codiadau cyflog i Uwch Swyddogion Cyngor Gwynedd yn gynharach eleni. Pan ddaeth y mater ger bron y Cyngor, roedd y Cyngor yn rhanedig ac fe benderfynwyd codi’r cyflogau o 35 -32 pleidlais, gydag aelodau Plaid Cymru i gyd gefnogi’r bwriad gafodd ei feirniadu’n hallt gan y Wasg a’r cyhoedd.
H - Harlech, diolch i ymdrechion Cynghorwyr Llais Gwynedd ddaru gefnogi’r gymuned leol, fe achubwyd pwll nofio’r gymuned honno yn 2009.
I- Iechyd...Gwelwyd diwedd ar Fwrdd Iechyd Lleol Gwynedd yn 2009, cawn weld yn ystod 2010 beth fydd barn Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr am ddyfodol ein Hysbyty Coffa ni yma yn y Blaenau. Mae adolygiad ar ddyfodol yr ysbyty i ddechrau ym mis Ebrill a byddaf yn cyfarfod gyda Phrif Weithredwr y Bwrdd Iechyd newydd yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf i drafod y mater pwysig yma.
J- John Legend a James Morrison, dau ganwr fues digon ffodus i’w gweld yn perfformio dau benwythnos arwahan rhwng fy mehnblwydd ym mis Mawrth.
L- Liz Saville Roberts…Arweinydd Unbenieithol Portffolio Addysg Gwynedd, sydd wedi anwybyddu barn mwyafrif o bobol Bro Dysynni ar ddyfodol addysg gynradd yn yr ardal hynny ac sydd bellach ar grwsâd i gau ysgolion ar hyd a lled y Sir. Gwyliwch allan am Liz a’i chyfeillion ym Mhlaid Cymru yn cynnal “ymgynghoriadau” ffug cyn gwneud eu gorau glas i gau ysgolion yn ardaloedd y Bala a Dolgellau yn ystod 2010 heb unrhyw resymeg addysgiadol i wneud hynny.
LL - Llais Gwynedd - Llais y Bobol...Yr unig Blaid ar Gyngor Gwynedd sydd yn ceisio amddiffyn gwasanaethau cyhoeddus i drigolion y Sir. Yr unig Blaid yng Ngwynedd sydd yn herio penderfyniadau Llywodraeth Llafur a Phlaid Cymru yn y Cynulliad ac sydd yn sefyll am y gorau i Wynedd.
M - Miike Snow, y grŵp o Sgandinafia wnaeth gryn argraff arnaf gyda’u album gynta o’r rhu’n enw. Fy hoff album o 2009 .
N - Nawddoglyd…Dyna ydi’r gair addas i ddisgrifio ffordd mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi mynd at ii “ymgynghori” gyda chymunedau ar ddyfodol eu hysgolion. Mae rhai o aelodau blaenllaw Plaid Cymru ar y Cyngor yn ogystal â’r Aelod Seneddol a’r Aelod Cynulliad lleol ym Meirionnydd/Dwyfor allan o gyswllt yn llwyr gyda’r farn gyhoeddus a’r teimladau cryf sydd yn bodoli yn erbyn y newidiadau yma.
O - Owain (Williams)...Arweinydd Llais Gwynedd, sydd wedi trechu salwch difrifol yn ystod y flwyddyn aeth heibio a pharhau i’n harwain ni a’n ysbrydoli fel Plaid i wneud ein gorau dros bobol Gwynedd.
P - Pantomeim....A minnau yn teimlo fod ambell i gyfarfod o’r Cyngor yn debyg i Bantomeim, dyma dderbyn cynnig i gymryd rhan yn un go iawn cyn y Nadolig. Roedd hi’n bleser gael bod yn rhan o gynhyrchiad Theatr Bro o Sindarela yma yn y Blaenau a dwi’n dal i chwerthin wrth feddwl am yr hwyl gawsom ni yn ymarfer ac yn perfformio.
PH - Phenwythnosau...pan dwi ddim yn gweithio, ar ben mynydd yn yr awyr iach neu yn gwylio hogiau Stiniog yn chwarae pêl-droed neu rygbi dwi’n hoffi ei wneud yn ystod y penwythnos. Yn ystod 2010 dwi hefyd yn bwriadu mynd i weld tîm hoci marched y Blaenau yn chwarae. Mae’r clwb gafodd ei sefydlu yn 2009 ar frig y gynghrair ar hyn o bryd… da iawn genod!
R - Refferendwm ...Mae’r Confensiwn Gymru Gyfan wedi datgan y byddai modd ennill refferendwm ar gynyddu pwerau’r Cynulliad ac y dylai'r refferendwm hynny gael ei gynnal mor fuan ac sy’n bosib. Rwan tra byddwn i yn bendant yn ymgyrchu dros bleidlais Ia i ragor o bwerau, mae gennyf ofn mai efallai mai NA fydd ateb pobol Cymru am sawl rheswm ac mae hynny yn fater o bryder a thristwch i mi.
Rh - Rhodri Morgan, Prif Weinidog Cymru ddaru ymddeol ‘chydig cyn y Nadolig, pob hwyl iddo ar gyfer y dyfodol.
S - Sylfaen...Dwi yn credu fod 2009 wedi bod yn flwyddyn dda yn hanes y Blaenau. Oes mae dal llawer iawn o waith i’w wneud i godi’r dref yn ôl ar ei thraed ond dwi yn credu bellach, diolch i’r cydweithredu gwych a’r ysbryd positif sydd yn bodoli yma fod gennym sylfaen cryf yn ei le i adeiladu arno i’r dyfodol ac mi all y blynyddoedd nesaf fod yn rhai difyr a diddorol i’r ardal a’i thrigolion.
T - Treuliau…Diolch i’r Daily Telegraph cawsom wybod am y treuliau cwbl anfoesol ac afresymol oedd rhai o’n Haelodau Seneddol wedi bod yn eu hawlio. Cawsom hefyd wybod am rhai o hawliadau ddaru Aelodau’r Cynulliad gan gynnwys ein Haelod lleol ni, yr Arglwydd Elis-Thomas er iddo ennill cyflog o £95,000 y flwyddyn fel Llywydd y Cynulliad hawliodd £36,000 o dreuliau oedd hefyd yn cynnwys lwfans bwyd dyddiol o £30!
Th - Theatr Bro… braint ac anrhydedd o’r mwyaf oedd cael gwahoddiad i gymryd rhan yn y Pantomeim gynta’ yn Blaenau ers blynyddoedd. Cafwyd llawer o hwyl yn ymarfer ac yn ystod y perfformiadau ac mae’r ardal yn dal i siarad amdano rŵan! Dwi wedi cytuno i gymryd rhan eto yn y panto eto yn 2010 a dwi’n mawr obeithio yr eith y Theatr Bro o nerth i nerth o dan ofal pobol hynod dalentog fel Gwenlli Edwards a Gai Toms.
U - Uchelgeisiol..Dyna’r gair i ddisgrifio cynlluniau Antur Stiniog i ddatblygu Canolfan Beicio Mynydd yma yn ardal y Blaenau. Dwi’n mawr obeithio y gwelwn ni’r Ganolfan yn cael ei datblygu ac yn agor i’r cyhoedd yn 2010/11.
W - Will..Mab bach fy nghyd Gynghorydd, Gethin Williams o Bontddu gafodd ei eni am 8y.h. ar ddiwrnod Nadolig! Llonygfarchiadau i Gethin, Clare a’r teulu a croeso mawr i Will!
Y - Ysgolion..Mewn amryw o gymunedau gwledig, dyma calon y gymuned, dyma’r adnodd pwysig sydd yn hywryddo a datblygu’r iaith a diwylliant Cymreig. Siom a thristwch ydi nodi mai yn 2009, trod Plaid Cymru ei chefn ar hyn i gyd..ac i be?

A – Arrogance – Something that has been shown on far too many occasions by Plaid Cymru Councillors in Gwynedd over the last year. On matters relating to schools, salary increases, public toilets, care fees they have ignored the views of other councilors and the public in general and just carried on regardless. The Local Elections of 2012 cannot come soon enough!
B – Betrayal – Something that I have seen happening in abundance on the Council by Plaid Cymru, who have betrayed the communities that they once stood strongly on their behalf. That is also the only word to describe the actions of Cllr Dewi Owen as well, who voted to close the village school at Aberdyfi despite telling his electors that he would do his utmost to save the school. He has susequently lost a vote of no confidence in him as a County Councillor by his local Community Council.
C – Compromise – As A and B (above) clearly demonstrates, compromise is not something that Plaid have tried to do on the Council despite the best efforts of others to offer a compromise solution on all major issues.
D – Dyfed Edwards..."Leader" of Gwynedd Council who this year was awarded the title of “Welsh Local Politician of the Year” by the Wales Yearbook Political Awards..the same panel of judges also awarded the title of “Song of the Century” to that Eighties Classic Agadoo by Black Lace.
E – Expenses….Thanks to Daily Telegraph many M.P.’s extravagant claims at taxpayers expense were rightfully exposed. In Cardiff Bay as well, some ridiculous claims were also exposed including our local Assembly Member. Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, despite earning £95,000 per annum as Presiding Officer made a claim of £36,000 for expenses including a daily food allowance of £30…talk about riding the gravy train!
F – Finances …. Thanks to another appalling financial settlement by the Assembly Government in Cardiff Bay, Gwynedd had one of the worst settlements in Wales (1.1%) compared to Cardiff which had 5%. Still our local Assembly Member, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas says that there isn’t a North-South divide in Wales any longer…of course there isn’t Dafydd!
G – Great!....That’s how it feels to have lost weight during the year and I look forward to losing more and keeping fit during 2010.
H - Harlech...Thanks to the efforts of Llais Gwynedd Councillors who supported the local community in their efforts to keep the local swimming pool open, Harlech Pool was saved from closure and its ownership has been transferred to a local Community Trust.
I – Inconsistency, something that Plaid Cymru are now experts on…whilst the Party is at the forefront of the campaign to close small rural schools in Gwynedd, they are also at the forefront of the campaign to keep them open in Wrexham and Monmouthshire! Confused? Clearly they are!?
J – Joe Calzaghe – Wales’ finest ever boxer announced his retirement from the ring in 2009.
K – King of Pop…Michael Jackson sadly passed away in 2009, but his music will live on forever.
L - Llais Gwynedd –The only Party on Gwynedd Council which stands to protect public services and in particular small rural schools. I was honoured to be chosen as the Party’s Candidate for the 2011 Assembly Elections for the Dwyfor/Meirionnydd Constituency. The campaign has already started and I look forward to meeting people the length and breadth of the Constituency during the next 18 months leading up to the Election in May 2011.
M – Miike Snow, my favorite band and the name of their album which came out in 2009.
N – Nigel and Emma – My friends in Stoke who got married in 2009. Without doubt, his stag weekend (paintballing in Nottingham), their wedding day in Oldham and my friend, Elfyn’s 40th birthday celebrations at Chester Races were the best laugh I had this year!-Thanks for the happy memories guys!
O – Owain (Williams), Llais Gwynedd’s leader who overcame a serious illness in 2009 and continues to lead and inspire the Party to do our best for the people of Gwynedd.
P - Plaid Cymru...where is this party heading for locally and nationally..I remember in the early 90's being a member of a Party that was going somewhere and spoke up for the people and communities...Now thankfully, I have long left and I cannot believe they way that the party has changed and become so distant from people.
Q – Question Time – BNP leader Nick Griffin a democratically elected “politician” appeared on it in 2009(And his performance was woeful!). I hope he’s allowed back on again in 2010 so that we can see even more evidence of why people should not vote for the BNP.
R – Referendum – The All Wales Convention came to the conclusion during 2009 that a referendum on increasing the powers of the Welsh Assembly was winnable. I will certainly campaign for a YES vote in 2010 if the referendum will be held. However, I have serious concerns due to the failure of the Assembly to effectively engage with Electors a number of its strategic failings whether there is a real appetite among people to increase its powers, I sincerely hope that this is not the case and that I will be proved wrong.
S – Schools – Small rural schools are the heart of many communities. In Gwynedd they are dynamos for the Welsh Language and culture and provide a very high standard of education. Yet at the end of 2009, Plaid Cymru decided to close 5 in the Tywyn area and they are determined to close many more across the County. Unless they are challenged and stopped and unless other communities wake up quickly to what they are doing, I wonder how many more schools Plaid will close in Gwynedd during 2010? One thing’s certain Llais Gwynedd is the only Party in Gwynedd which is making a stand for our schools, rural communities and services.
T - Theatre…. I made my acting debut (if you can call it that!) in 2009 with Theatre Bro, the local community theatre group in Blaenau. We had a laugh, rehearsing and performing the pantomime, Sindarela just before Christmas and I’m already looking forward to doing it all again in the lead up to Christmas 2010.
U – Uplifting – The feeling that I have had quite often during the year knowing that I have done something to help someone in my role as a County and Town Councillor. Thankfully those times far outweigh the frustration that goes with the negative aspects of the work.
V - Vision…Something that Blaenau has lacked for many years. However during 2009, that has changed and now we have an exciting one in place and thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many people, I truly believe that the coming years will see some exciting developments locally that will in turn see the vision become reality.
W – Walking and Weight Loss…In 2009 I walked and walked and walked at least 12 miles a week and along with a much healthier diet, I managed to lose 5 stones in weight. In 2010 I intend to keep on walking and lose another 2-3 stones.
X – X-Factor – I wanted Olly to win, plain and simple…I also feel that Simon Cowell’s decision to keep Jedward in the competition at the expense of Lucy Jones and that Rage Against the Machine beat Joe to the Christmas No.1 means that the show’s star may be waining.
Y – You...The readers of this blog, thanks for reading during 2009, thanks for your comments, good and bad and thanks to those of you who have supported me in so many ways during 2009, I look forward to blogging throughout 2010.
Z - Zzzzzzz.....after such a busy year, it’s been nice to have a little time off to relax, sleep and re-charge the batteries ready for 2010.

Wel dyma ni, noson cyn y Nadolig, dim ond un can fyddai'n addas ar gyfer heddiw dwi'n credu.
Wedi ei berfformiad byth gofiadwy yn Glastonbury yn yr Haf, dyma'r Boss, Bruce Springsteen efo Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.

So here we are, Christmas Eve, I think that this is the only tune that's apt for today.
After his unforgettable performance at this years Glastonbury Festival, here's the Boss, Bruce Springsteen and his version of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.

Diolch yn fawr iawn Theatr Bro - Thank you very much Theatre Bro

Diolch yn fawr iawn i griw y Theatr Bro am gael bod yn rhan o'r Panto. Pan dderbyniais eu gwahoddiad i gymryd rhan doeddwn i ddim yn siwr o gwbwl be oeddwn i'n gadael fy hyn i mewn amdano.
Neithiwr cafwyd noson arall ffantastic, gyda'r CELL yn llawn a digon o hwyl a cherthin!
Mae wedi bod yn bleser, briant ac anrhydedd cael bod yn rhan o'r bwrlwm, ymarferion a'r hwyl gyda criw o fobol ymroddgar ac hwyliog...a do dwi a Dafydd Lloyd Hughes wedi cytuno i fod yn rhan o'r Panto eto blwyddyn nesaf.
Rhaid dweud diolch arbennig wrth Gwenlli Edwards, Gai Toms, Ceri Cunnington a Nia Jones am gadw trefn ar yr holl beth.
Dros y mis diwethaf rydym wedi gweld Blaenau ar ei orau, gyda'r gymuned yn uno i ddathlu'r Nadolig ac i gael llawer o hwyl, Noson Goleuo, Cwis y Cymdeithasu a dwy noson o sport yn y Pantomime.
Dwi wastad wedi bod yn falch o'r ardal unigryw hon a'i phobol a'i ysbryd cymunedol, mae'r balchder hwnnw wedi codi hicyn neu ddwy dros y mis diwethaf ac dwi'n ffyddiog y bydd 2010 yn flwyddyn dda i'r ardal os fedrwn ni gadw'r momentwm gwych sydd yn bodoli yma ar hyn o bryd i barhau yn y flwyddyn newydd.
Unwaith eto, diolch o galon am gael y cyfle i chwarae rhan fach yn hyn y gyd.

Thank you very much to the crew of Theatre Bro for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the panto. When I accepted their invitation to take part, I had absolutly no idea what I was letting myself in for.
We had another fantastic night last night and the CELL was packed with people, fun and laughter!
It has been an honour and a pleasure to be part of the performance, excitement and fun with a crew of very talented and committed people...and yes, both Dafydd Lloyd Hughes have a agreed to take part in next years production.
Special thanks must go to Gwenlli Edwards, Gai Toms, Ceri Cunnington and Nia Jones for keeping the whole thing ticking so smoothly.
Over the past month, we have seen Blaenau at its very best, with the community coming togther to celebrate Christmas, from the switching on of the lights and the fun and laughter at the Societies Quiz and Pantomime.
I have always been proud of this unique area, its people and its sense of community and spirit. That pride has risen a few notches over the last month and I feel that 2010 will be a good year for the area if we can keep the momentum that has been gathering in the area to keep going for the New Year.
Once again thank you for the opportunity to play a small part in all of it.

Noson gynta, noson dda! - First night...was a good night!

Dyna ni, noson gynta'r panto wedi ei wneud ac roedd ymateb y gynulleidfa yn wych! Dwi ddim yn siwr ar brydiau os mae nhw yntau ni yr "actorion" oedd yn chwerthin fwya!
Ta waeth, rydym yn ei wneud o i gyd eto heno ac mae'n argoeli i fod yn noson dda arall ac mi fyddwn yn ymweld ac un o dafrndai y dref yn ein gwisgoedd ac "in character" am un bach sydyn wedi'r sioe heno...O na fyddwch tad!...O byddwn tad!

There we go, the first night of the panto has been done and the response from the audience was great!
I'm not sure at times, who was laughing most, them or us the "actors"!
We have it all to do again tonight and it looks like it will be another good night. After tonights performance, we'll be visiting one of the town's public houses in costume and in character for a "swift of half"...Oh no you won't!..Oh yes we will!

Halen y Ddaear - Salt of the Earth

Gair sydyn i ddiolch i griwau Adran Priffyrdd y Cyngor Sir sydd wedi bod wrthi ers dyddiau yn ceisio sicrhau fod ein ffyrdd, strydoedd a palmentydd yn cael ei graeanu.
Dwi wedi derbyn un neu ddau galwad ffon yn ystod y bore gan Etholwyr yn cwyno nad yw eu stryd nhw wedi eu graeanu. Dwi wedi egluro mai y priffyrdd ydi blaenoriaeth cyntaf y Cyngor ond dwi'n falch o adrodd fod y mwyafrif o'r strydoedd yn ogystal a phalmentydd yn ganol y dref wedi eu graeanu hefyd.
I pawb sydd wedi bod wrthi ac yn dal i sicrhau ein bod ni yn gallu mynd o gwmaps mor ddiogel ac sy'n bosib o dan yr amgylchiadau -diolch yn fawr iawn i chi!

Just a quick word to say a big thank you to all the crews of Gwynedd Council's Highways Department who have been busy over the last few days ensuring that the highways, streets and pavements have been and continue to be gritted.
I have received one or two complaints by Electors regarding the fact that their streets had not been gritted. I have explained that the highways are the first priority for the Council and thankfully by lunchtime, many streets and pavements locally have been and continue to be gritted.
To everyone who's been busy ensuring that we can get around as safely as possible under current cirumstances - thank you very much!

Tomorrow morning, Cllr. Dafydd Hughes and myself will be visiting the Day Care Centre for the elderly, the Memorial Hospital and the old people's homes at Bryn Blodau and Bryn Llwyelyn to thank all the staff for their hard work over the past year as well as visiting the patients, residents and service users to wish them all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
When we visit these places, the welcome is always warm and friendly and its always a pleasure visiting them.

Cowell in a rage as X-Factor winner fails to make Xmas no.1

So now we know, the internet campaign by a husband and wife has ensured that all the hype and media surrounding this year's X-Factor winner, Joe McElderry has failed to secure him the coveted Chrsitmas No.1 in the singles chart.
Whilst I much prefer Joe's song, I think there are lessons to be learned (particularly by Simon Cowell) and the internet campaign that has ensured that Rage Against the Machine's Killing in The Name is Christmas No.1 is to be congratulated (although I have very little to say about the song myself!).

Gwastraff amser a gormod o aer poeth COPENHAGEN Waste of time and plenty of hot air

Faint roedd y jamboree amgylcheddol yn Copenhagen wedi gostio? Be oedd hoel troed carbon yr holl beth, gyda pawb yn hedfan yno i gyflawni be yn union? Cafwyd "cytundeb" nad oes modd ei weithredu'n gyfreithiol!
Mae pawb yn gwybod be ydi achos cynhesu byd eang, os da ni oddifri am wneud rhywbeth i achub ein planed, mae rhaid stopio malu awyr a gweithredu mwy. Tristwch mawr ydi ei bod hi'n ymddangos unwaith eto fod cyfle wedi ei golli yn Copenhagen ac fod yr holl sioe yn ymddangos fel ei bod wedi bod yn wastraff o arian ac amser.

How much did the environmental jamboree in Copenhagen cost excactly? What was the carbon footprint for the whole talking shop? And what has it achieved?
An "agreement" which isn't legally binding has been reached!
We all know what is the cause of global warming and if we're serious about doing anything about it, its action that is needed and not the empty words of global leaders.
Its sad to think that another opportunity to act has been missed in Copenhagen and the whole thing appears to be a complete waste of time and money.

Stwffia dy Dwrci!! - Stuff your Turkey!!

Dyna ydi neges pobol Aberdyfi i'r Cynghorydd Dewi Owen a'i siop gig yn dilyn y bleidlais yn y Cyngor Sir dydd Iau diwethaf.
Mae esboniad Dewi dros yr hyn wnaeth o yn gwbwl pathetic!
Mae'n amlwg ei fod o wedi colli cefnogaeth ei gymuned mewn mwy na un ffordd....Fel dwi wedi dweud eisioes mi fydd hi'n wyrthiol os ennillith y dyn yma ei sedd yn ol ar y Cyngor y tro nesaf.

That's the clear message that Aberdyfi villagers have sent to Cllr.Dewi Owen and his butcher's shop following last Thursday's vote in the County Council.
Dewi's explaination for what he did is absolutely pathetic!
It's quite clear that he has lost the support of his community in more ways than one...As I have already said, it will be nothing short of a miracle if this man keeps his seat on the Council at the next election.

Meddyliwch am y milwyr a'u teuluoedd - Think about the soldiers and their families

A hithau yn agosau at y Nadolig, mae hi wedi dod i fy sylw fod oleiaf dau o fechgyn ifanc o'r ardal hon newydd gyrraedd maes y gad yn Afghanistan.
Rwan be bynnag ydi'ch barn chi am y rhyfel yno (mae genai amheuon fy hunain am yr holl beth), mae'n bwysig ein bod ni'n cefnogi'r milwyr sydd yno a'u teuluoedd yn enwedig dros gyfnod y Nadolig pan ddyliai pawb fod gyda'i annwyliaid.
Dwi'n mawr obeithio y daw'r hogiau lleol yn ol adref yn ddiogel ac yn naturiol bydd ein meddyliau ni gyda hwy a'u teuluoedd nes y byddent yn ol yn ein plith i ddathlu'r Wyl yn hwyr.

With Christmas only a week away, it has come to my attention that at least two local lads have just been posted to the war zone in Afghanistan.
Now whatever your views are on the war (I have my own concerns about it all), it is important that we support the soldiers that are there and their families, particularly over Christmas, when families should be together.
I sincerely hope that the lads will return home, safe and sound in due course and naturally our thoughts will be with them and their families until they return back into our midst for a late celebration of the festivities.

"Mae hwn fel rhestr siopa Calamity Jane!". - Gwych!

A new slot for gems that I may here as I go about my work from day to day.
Today, my good friend, Councillor Alwyn Gruffydd at the Council Board whilst discussing, Gwynedd Community Housing's application for more money from the Council:

Dyma felly dystiolaeth di-gansyniol o brad Plaid Cymru tuag at ein cymunedau gwledig a'r iaith Gymraeg a diwylliant Cymreig sydd yn ffynu yn yr ysgolion bychan yma.
There you have it, clear evidence (once again) of Plaid Cymru's betrayal of our rural communities and the Welsh language and culture which thrives in these small schools.

Congratulations to Joe McElderry on winning the 2009 X-Factor in a brilliant final with my favourite, Olly Murs.

Brad yr aelod lleol - Betrayed by the local member

Wrth edrych yn ol ar y drafodaeth ysgolion yn y Cyngor ddoe, y cyfraniad mwyaf "bizarre" o'r p'nawn oedd un y Cyng.Dewi Owen o Aberdyfi a gynigiodd i gau ysgol y pentref yn 2014 a hefyd bledleisiodd yn groes i'm gwelliant i ac i farn ei gymuned leol.
Dwi ddim yn adnabod Dewi yn dda ond mae ei ymddygiad ar y mater ysgolion wedi bod yn rhyfedd ers y dechrau ac ni amlygwyd hynny mwy nac ar lawr y Cyngor ddoe.
Mae o wedi bradychu ei fobol ac mi fentrai ddweud rwan y bydd Dewi Owen ar y blaen i gau ysgolion eraill ar hyd a lled y Sir.
Sgwn i faint fydd wedi cau erbyn yr Etholiad Lleol nesaf? Mae un peth yn saff, fydd Dewi ddim yn cynrychioli Aberdyfi wedi hynny...Fedrai ddim gweld hynny rhywsut gan fod y be wnaeth o ddoe yn anfaddeuol ac does genai ddim amheuaeth y wneith ei etholwyr o ddim anghofio hynny!

Looking back on yesterday's debate on the schools, the most bizarre contribution of the afternoon was made by Cllr.Dewi Owen from Aberdyfi who proposed to close the village school there in 2014 and who also voted against my amendment to keep the school open.
I don't know Dewi that well, however from what I have seen, his behaviour regarding the school's matter has been very odd, and that was no more so obvious than on the floor of the Council yesterday.
He has betrayed the people who elected him and I will venture to say that Dewi Owen will now be at the forefront of the campaign to close as many other schools as he can across the County from now on.
I wonder how many will have closed before the next Local Elections? One thing is certain Dewi Owen won't be representing Aberdyfi after then. For the life of me, I can't see his electors forgetting how he betrayed them yesterday, for it was unforgivable and they deserve better!

Cyrraedd y nôd o’r diwedd! - Mission accomplished at last!

Ionawr 1af 2009 January 1st

Rhagfyr 10fed 2009 10th December

Ychydig llai na blwyddyn ers cychwyn, dwi'n falch o ddweud fy mod wedi cyrraedd y nôd ac fy mod wedi colli 5ston ac 1pwys fel rhan o ymgyrch 509.
Wedi cyrraedd adref o Gaernarfon heno roeddwn yn teimlo yn hynod siomedig ac yn drist iawn a doedd dim amdani ond darn o siocled ond wedyn dyma fi'n meddwl...na! Es i ar y glorian i edrych beth oedd y pwysau ac pan welais fy mod wedi mynd heibio'r nôd o 1pwys, dyma lywcio'r siocled fel dathliad!
Heb os, dyma un o'r pethau caletaf dwi wedi ei wneud a tra dwi am fwynhau fy hunain rwan dros gyfnod y Nadolig drwy fwyta ac yfed be bynnag liciai (mewn cymedroldeb!) dwi ddim am ddad-wneud yr holl waith ac ymdrech dwi wedi ei wneud drwy'r flwyddyn diwethaf.
Dwi dal angen colli chydig dros dwy ston arall er lles fy iechyd ac fy mwriad ydi gwneud hynny erbyn yr haf fan hwyraf.
Dwi wedi newid fy ffordd o fyw er gwell ac dwi wedi mynd o wast 44 i 38 ac dwi'n anelu at 36 neu 34.
Mae genai dal "man boobs"(trist ond gwir!)felly efo cymorth ffrindiau a sesiynau yn y gampfa yn y flwyddyn newydd bydd rheini yn diflannu maes o law.
Cofiwch mi fedrwch chi dal fy noddi yma. Gan fod yr arian dwi'n hel yn mynd at Ty Gobaith ac byddaf ar ol pawb sydd wedi rhoi addewidion o nawdd i mi rhwng rwan a'r Flwyddyn Newydd.
Swn i'n hoffi diolch i pawb sydd eisioes wedi fy noddi fi yn ogystal i'm teulu a'm ffrindiau am eu cymorth a'u cefnogaeth wrth i mi fynd ati i wneud hyn, hebddynt fyddwn i wedi methu ac rwan mae gennyf y "bug" i gario mlaen i fwyta'n iach a cherdded a chadw'n heini.
Ar ol y blwyddyn diwethaf, dwi'n edrych yn llai tebyg i rhyw Buddah Bach erbyn hyn! Diolch i chi i gyd!!

A little under a year since I started on my mission to lose 5 stone in weight in order to raise funds for Ty Gobaith children's hospice, I am glad to say that I have finally reached my target..indeed, I have passed the target by 1lb!
After I got home from Caernarfon I felt very dissapointed and sad and I had a massive craving for chocolate! I found some and was about to take a chunk but decided ...No! And I went to weigh myself! Once I saw that I had passed my taget by 1lb..I ate the chocolate in celebration!
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the hardest things that I have ever done...however I feel so, so much better having done it and I have now made a concious lifestyle change. I am now going to enjoy Christmas and I intend to eat and drink whatever I like (in moderation!)as I still would like to lose a little over 2 stone in the New Year and I have no intention of undoing all my good work that I have done this year.
I have changed my lifestyle for the better and I have gone from a 44ins waist to 38 and hope to be either a 36 or 34 by the summer.
I still have man boobs(sad but true!) though and will concentrate my efforts on weight loss as well as body toning in the New Year.
Remember you can still sponsor me here. Every penny raised will go to Ty Gobaith children's hospice and everyone who has pledged me sponsorship over the past year will be chased for it between now and the New Year.
I would like to pass my sincere thanks to everyone who has sponsored me to date. I would also like to thank my family and friends for all their support, without which I would have failed and I have now got the bit between my teeth to eat healthily and excersise as and when time allow's.
After the past year, I don't look so much as a little Buddah! Thank you all!!

Plaid Cymru march towards Bala to close more schools

Now that they have been given the green light to close 5 schools in the Tywyn area, Plaid Cymru have wasted no time in marching towards Bala as rumour has it that Frongoch and Y Parc are next in their firing line.

Cyngor Gwynedd i gau 5 ysgol - Gwynedd Council to close 5 schools

Wedi trafodaeth hir ac annodd y prynhawn 'ma, mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi penderfynu cau 5 ysgol gynradd yn ardal Tywyn.
Mi ddaru pob un aelod o Blaid Cymru a'r Blaid Lafur oedd yn bresennol bleidleisio o blaid y cynnig yn ogystal a phob un o'r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol heb law y Cyng.Steve Churchman ddaru cefnogi safbwynt Llais Gwynedd.
Bydd y bleidlais yma o 46-21 yn rhoi hyder i'r Blaid a'u cefnogwyr wrth iddynt symud rwan i ardal Penllyn, mater o amser fydd hi felly nes bydd cynnigion i ga Ysgol y Parc ac Ysgol Bro Treweryn (Frongoch) diddorol fydd gweld sut fydd aelodau yr ardal hynny'n ymateb o gofio eu bod nhw i gyd wedi cefnogi cau yr ysgolion ym Mro Dysynni.
Yn amlwg dwi'n siomedig gyda'r canlyniad yma, serch hynny nid yw hi ar ben eto ar ysgolion ym Mro Dysynni gan y bydd yn bendant her i'r canlyniad yma yn y Cynulliad ac yn y Llysoedd os daw hi i hynny.

After a long and difficult debate this afternoon,Gwynedd Council has decided to close 5 primary schools in the Tywyn area.
Every member of Plaid Cymru present voted for the school closures as did the Labour members and every Lib.Dem appart from Cllr.Steve Churchman who supported Llais Gwynedd's view.
The vote by 46-21 will give Plaid and their supporters much confidence as they now move towards the Bala area to re-organise primary school in that area. Already the signs do not appear good for the future of Frongoch and Y Parc schools. It will also be interesting to see what the three members in those areas will do now given that they supported the proposed closures in the Tywyn area.
Naturally, I am very dissapointed with this afternoon's result, however, this matter is far from being over as there will be a challenge to this decision in the Assembly and the Law Courts if it comes to that.

Adfent Cerddorol 10 - Musical Advent 10

10fed o Ragfyr 2009, diwrnod hanesyddol a thyngedfenol i ysgolion cynradd ardal Tywyn.
Sgwn i faint o gariad a pharch wneith Plaid Cymru ddangos tuag at plant a phobol yr ardal hynny yn hwyrach heddiw wrth drafod dyfodol eu hysgolion.
Dim ond un dewis amlwg o gan sydd yna felly ar gyfer diwrnod fel heddiw, Frankie Goes to Hollywood "The Power of Love".

December 10th 2009, an historical and crucial day for primary schools in the Tywyn area today.
I wonder how much love and respect Plaid Cymru will show the children and the people of the area later today when we meet to discuss the future of their schools.
There is only one obvious song choice for a day like today, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, "The Power of Love"

Excellent letter sums up schools situation here in Gwynedd

Councillor Alwyn Gruffydd's excellent letter (below) sums things up pretty clearly ahead of tommorow's Council meeting to decide the futre of 5 primary schools in the Tywyn area

Dear Sir,
Come this Thursday we’ll know for certain whether or not Plaid Cymru councillors in Gwynedd support our communities anymore. Come this Thursday we’ll have no allusions to Plaid Cymru’s commitment to rural areas. Come this Thursday we’ll see if today’s Plaid Cymru worthies are still true to the principles adhered to by their party’s founding fathers.
Because this Thursday will define the political scene in Gwynedd for years, if not generations, to come as councillors vote on the closure of five primary schools in South Meirionnydd - four of them against the specific will of the communities they serve. The closure is a Plaid Cymru motion and its success or failure depends entirely on the way Plaid Councillors vote on the issue. Seldom has so much responsibility rested on the shoulders of elected members but their choice is a clear one.
If they wish their party to continue being a force to be reckoned with in Gwynedd then they must support the communities who wish to keep their schools. If they vote for closure then they must also accept the responsibility for Plaid Cymru’s demise in Gwynedd. It’s no use blaming others for one’s own failings, come this Thursday.
Yours Sincerely,
Cllr Alwyn Gruffydd – Llais Gwynedd
Tremadog
.

Gwleidydd Lleol y Flwyddyn!? - Local Politician of the Year!?

Mae'r "gwobrau"Gwleidydd y Flwyddyn Cymru wedi cael eu cynnal am eleni, neithiwr yng Nghaerdydd ac wedi iddynt enwi Dafydd Elis-Thomas fel Gwleidydd y Flwyddyn llynedd, mae nhw wedi mynd un yn well eleni.
Dyfed Edwards, "Arweinydd" Cyngor Gwynedd ydi "Gwleidydd" Lleol y Flwyddyn!
Yn ol y beirniaid...Pwy bynneg oedden nhw, mae Dyfed wedi delio gyda'r broses o ad-drefnu addysg gynradd yn Wynedd mewn ffordd effeithiol ers i'r Blaid golli eu mwyafrif ar y Cyngor yn 2008. Mae'n amlwg felly na ddaru'r beirniaid adael ei "bunker" a siarad efo plant, rhieni, llywodraethwyr ac athrawon yn ardal Tywyn a Bala na chyd aelodau Dyfed ar Gyngor Gwynedd!
Yn naturiol mae hyn yn codi fy ngobeithion i'n fawr am ennill Steil Gwallt y Flwyddyn pan fydd y Gwobrau Fashiwn Prydain yn cael eu cyhoeddi yr wythnos nesaf.
Anhygoel!!

The Welsh Political "Awards" were held last night in Cardiff and after last year's "awards" crowned Dafydd Elis-Thomas as Politician of the Year, they have gone one better this year.
Dyfed Edwards the "Leader" of Gwynedd Council has won the award for Local "Politician" of the Year!
According to the panel of judges...Whoever they were, Dyfed is "judged to have handled the crisis over local school closures well after it robbed Plaid of overall control of the Council last year"!!
Clearly, whoever the panel was, they haven't ventured far from their bunker in Cardiff Bay to speak to children, parents, governors and teachers in the Tywyn and Bala area or many of Dyfed's fellow members on Gwynedd Council!
Naturally, upon hearing this news, I am confident that I will now be awarded with the hairstyle of the year award at this year's UK Fashion Awards which will be announced next week.
Unbelievable!!

Can wych sgen i ar eich cyfer heddiw...Christmas Wrapping gan The Waitresses. Dim y fidio swyddogol ydi hon ond goleuadau ar rhyw dy yn yr America. Mae nhw'n edrych yn wych! Mae na sawl ty yma yn Stiniog wedi eu goleuo'n arbennig hefyd.
A Christmas classic for you today...Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. This is'nt the official video, but the lights show on someone's home in the US. They seem like a fantastic set-up. There are a number of homes here in the Blaenau area which have also been decorated and light up and they look brilliant.

Fyddech chi'n gyrru eich plant i'r ysgol ar y ffordd yma? - Would you send your children to school on this road?

Pan fydd Plaid Cymru yn ystyried cau ysgol Llwyngwril dydd Iau, dyma ydi'r ffordd y mae nhw yn disgwyl i'r plant drafeilio arni i fynd i'r ysgol.
Yn barod eleni mae 2 berson wedi cael eu lladd yma.
Fyddech chi yn dymuno i'ch plant cyn ifanc a phedair oed cael eu cludo heb warchodwr i'r ysgol ar hyd y darn yma o ffordd yn hytrach na cerdded yno ar hyn o bryd?

When Plaid Cymru consider closing Llwyngwril School on Thursday, this is the road that they expect children as young as four to be carried along (unsupervised) to attend their school.
Already this year, two people have been killed along this stertch of road.
Would you wish for your children to travel along this road to schoool and back every day?
Presently, they can walk to school with their parents siblings quite safely.

Plaid yn colli aelod arall - Plaid lose another member

Ar ben y canoedd o aelodau mae nhw wedi colli ac yn dal i golli yma yng Ngwynedd, mae Plaid Cymru wedi colli Aelod Cynulliad heddiw.
Dwi'm yn meddwl mai dyma fydd yr olaf o golledion y Blaid gan ei bod hi'n amlwg i bawb ond ei anoracs ar y blogosffer Cymreig ei bod nhw wedi colli eu ffordd yn llwyr.

On top of the hunderds of members that have left the Party in Gwynedd, Plaid Cymru have lost an Assembly Member today.
I doubt wheteher this will be the last of their losses as it is obvious to everyone appart from the Plaid anoraks on the blogosphere that they are heamoraging members and have completely lost their way.

Llongyfarchiadau i Ryan Giggs ar ennill Personoliaeth Chwaraeon y Flwyddyn BBC Cymru yn gynharach heno.
Cofiwch pleidleisio iddo ar gyfer y gwobr Personoliaeth y Flwyddyn Chwaraeon Prydain fydd yn cael ei gyhoeddi nos Sul.

Congratulations to Ryan Giggs who was voted BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year earlier this evening.
Remember to vote for him for the BBC's UK Sports Personality of the Year which will be announced this Sunday night.

Nodyn i'r Cynulliad - Note to the Assembly

Mae angen cyflymu'r broses o wella gwasanaethau cymdeithasol a gwasanaeth gofal yng Nghymru, medd adroddiad blynyddol yr arolygiaeth gofal.
Tra'n dweud bod yna wellianau wedi bod, mae'r adroddiad gan Arolygiaeth Gofal a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol Cymru hefyd yn nodi bod yna anghysondeb rhwng y safon o fewn gwahanol awdurdodau.
Fel arfer, does yna ddim byd newydd yn yr adroddiad yma. Fodd bynnag dwi'n credu fod yna bellach ddyletswydd moesol ar Llywodraeth y Cynulliad os ydynt am weld safonnau gofal yn gwella bod yn rhaid iddynt fuddsoddi rhagor o arian yn y sector.
Gyda Cyngor Gwynedd yn gwynebu hyd at £16m o dorriadau a chanran dda o hynny yn dod o'r Adran Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, mae angen dybrud am fuddsoddiad neu does dim gobaith mul mewn Grand National ar i bethau wella!

Providers of care and social services in Wales have been told they need to improve their quality and consistency.
The annual report of the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW) praised a better performance.
But it also urged local councils and care providers to implement change more quickly and highlighted differences between services across Wales.
As usual this report tells us what we all ready know. However I feel that the Assembly Government is morally bound to invest more money into the care sector if they expect to see an improvement in standards.
Here in Gwynedd, with the Council having to find £16m in savings and a good chunk of that will come from the Social Services Department, there is a chronic need for investment or there is'nt a cat in hell's chance that things will get any better.

O na! Dim eto! - Oh no! Not again!

Mae'n ymddangos fod y syrcas ymgynghoriad ffug Cyngor Gwynedd ar ddyfodol ysgolion cynradd wedi cyrraedd Penllyn erbyn hyn.
Yn ystod cyfarfod yn yr ardal wythnos diwethaf a gyda cynrhychiolwyr o gwahanol ysgolion wedi dod i gytundeb ar ffurf o gydweithio rhwng ysgolion, mae'n ymddangos fod Uwch Swyddog o'r Adran Addysg wedi datagan yn achos dwy o'r ysgolion na fyddai hynny'n opsiwn real ac mae ei cau nhw fyddai orau gan y Cyngor!
Felly pobl dda Penllyn, nai ddim dweud "I told you so!" ond wedi'n profiad ni ym Mro Dysynni, mi fydd y broses yma rwan yn chwerthinllyd o un ochrog gyda'r canlyniad yn amlwg wedi dim ond dau cyfarfod.
Gwnewch y peth iawn a safwch dros eich ysgolion a dros eich cymunedau a tynnwch allan o'r sham yma RWAN...does ganddyn nhw DIM diddordeb yn eich barn ac defnyddiwch yr amser i frwydro yn erbyn yr hyn mae'n amlwg mae nhw eisioes wedi penderfynu ei wneud. Drwy eistedd o amgylch y bwrdd gyda hwy, rydych yn rhoi hygrededd i broses gwbwl, gwbwl wallus a thywyllodrus ac rhoi cyfiawnhad i'w bwriad o gau eich hysgolion - mi all pobl dda Dysynni dystio i hynny!

It appears that Gwynedd Council's Circus for sham consultations has arrived in the Bala area by now.
And after only the second meeting, it has become totally clear that the Council intends to close at least two of the area's primary schools.
During an area "consultation" meeting last week, participants were asked to form groups, from which agreements had been reached by all concerned that all schools were happy to collaborate. The status quo was smashed at the end of the meeting, when a Senior Education Official declared that collaboration was not a real option for two of the schools as the Council favoured to close them!
So people of the Bala area, I wont say "I told you so!" however from my experience and the experience of parents, teachers and governors from the Tywn area I can tell you now that this "consultation" process will be laughably one sided and the inevitable results are clear to see after only two meetings!
Do the right thing, stand up for your schools and stand up for your communities and PULL OUT of this sham NOW..They have absolutely no interest whatsoever in your opinion or the standard of education in your schools. Their minds are already made up, don't waste anymore time legitimnizing this flawed and dishonest process by sitting around the table with these people. Use your time wisely and more efficiently by fighting for your school's future - the people of Tywyn have ben where you are now and look how the Council brushed their views aside and I am afraid that is what they will do to you now in Bala!

C'mon Olly!!!

So we now know the line-up for next weekend's X-Factor Final.
Olly, Joe and Stacy will battle it out for this year's crown and a £1m recording contract.
I said on this blog back in September that Olly would be in the Final...sadly my other prediction Shanna went out in the early stages (My cystal ball was a bit dusty that day ;-)).
I'll still be backing Olly as he's an all round performer in the same mould as Will Young or Justin Timberlake. Whilst both the other finalists are good, for me, Olly has the X-Factor and a much longer "shelf life" than the other two.
He certainly gets my vote and I hope he wins next week.....C'mon Olly!!

Roedd hi'n noson Michael Jackson ar yr X-Factor neithiwr ac roedd y cystadleuwyr yn canu ei ganeuon o yn y rhan cyntaf. Mae'n anodd credu fod y cradur wedi ein gadael yn gynharach eleni.
Dyma fo a'i frodyr yn y Jackson 5 yn canu "Little Drummer Boy".

It was Michael Jackson night on last night's X-Factor and the contestants sang one of his songs in the first part. Its hard to believe that he 's gone after his untimely death earlier this year. A talented life cut short at a reletively young age.
Here he is with his brother's in the Jackson 5 singing Little Drummer Boy

Confirming what we all ready know - Blaenau is Best!

This article by Kevin White in this week's Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald just goes to confirm what many of us already know and that is that the landscape and the weather around Blaenau on good days and bad days is something that you have to see before you die.
Such eminent people as Dr John Davies, don't write these things on a whim and a recent tourism survey conducted by Aberystwyth University confirms that many people do visit the area to walk, see the landscape and experience the weather, rain or shine.
As someoene who walks the mountains around here quite often, I can only endorse what Dr Davies says and I look forward to welcoming more of you to our beautiful area (before you die!).

Noson Goleuo Gwych! - Great night at lights switch on!

Llongyfarchiadau mawr a diolch arbennig i bawb oedd ynghlwm gyda'r trefniadau ar gyfer Noson Goleuo Stiniog neithiwr.
Er ei bod hi'n oer, roedd hi'n sych, a braf oedd gweld y strydoedd a'r siopau yn llawn o pobol.
Blaenau ar ei orau a'r ysbryd cymunedol gwych sydd yn bodoli yma yn dod i'r amlwg unwaith eto!

Congratulations and special thanks to everyone connected with organising last night's events to switch on Blaenau's Christmas lights.
Although it was cold, it was dry and it was lovely to see the streets and shops packed with people.
Blaenau at its best and the brilliant community spirit that is so alive here came to the fore once again!

A classic track from Mariah Carey this morning...This is so good that rumour has it that even Mr Angry has been spotted dancing to this at Christmas parties in years gone by...Therefore it must be a good tune!

Mr Myll...fi!? - Mr Angry...me!?

Ydw, mi ydw i yn gallu bod yn flin iawn am rhai pethau sydd yn digwydd nid yn unig yng Nghyngor Gwynedd ond yn Y Cynulliad a San Steffan hefyd.
Dwi'n teimlo yn gryf mae yno i wasanaethu y cyhoedd ydym ni fel gwleidyddion a swyddogion y sefydliadu hyn i gyd.
Pan dwi yn teimlo bod y sefydliadau yma yn diystyru, camarwain ac dweud celwydd wrth y cyhoedd dwi yn cael y myll ac ar adegau yn teimlo cywilydd fel gwleidydd gan fod rhai pobl yn gallu bod mor dan din.
Ydi hynny'n fy ngwneud i yn wahanol i'r mwyafrif? Dwi'm yn meddwl bod o, da chi?
Dyna pam oedd yn rhaid i mi chwerthin pan ddarllenais i'r llith yma gan "cheerleader in chief" Plaid Cymru, Cai Larsen.
Rwan dwi ddim yn adnabod Cai yn dda o gwbwl ond mae o'n Brifathro ac felly tydi o ddim yn dyn dwl o bell ffordd ond mae ei deurngawrch dall o tuag ag at Blaid Cymru ar un llaw i'w edmygu ac ar y llaw arall i'w gwestiynu gan ei fod yn mynd tu hwnt i pob rheswm ar adegau.
Gyda llaw Cai, os ei di o gwmpas Wynedd mi weli di erbyn hyn fy mod i yn un o filoedd o Mr a Mrs Mylls...Yntau wyt ti rhy ddall i weld y gwir?
Yn hapus, fodlon dedwydd a llon...Gwil :-))

Yes, you bet, I can be very angry not just about what goes on in Gwynedd Council but also the Assembly and Parliment as well.
I feel that we as members and officers of all these levels of Government are there to serve the people.
When I feel that these institutions disregard, mislead or lie to the public I do get angry and I sometimes feel ashamed to be a politician due to the fact that certain people can be so underhanded.
Does that make me different to the majority? No, I don't think it does, do you?
That is why I had to laugh when I read this latest posting by Plaid Cymru's "Cheerleader in Chief", Cai Larsen.
Now, I don't know Cai that well but I do know that he's a Headmaster so he's a reletively intelligent man. What's striking about Cai is his blind support for Plaid, which on one hand is very admirable and on the other it is worrying due to the fact that he see's no wrong in hardly anything that they do or say and he sometimes goes beyond all reason.
By the way Cai, if you'll care to go to communities across Gwynedd by now, you'll meet thousands of Mr and Mrs Angry's....or maybe you're too blind to see?
Whatever, with a smiling face and a happy heart, my best wishes Gwil :-))
